This sultry siren likes to reinvent herself. But her preferred genre of roles leaves you confused. “I like doing psycho roles,” says Urmila Matondkar when one asks her about her oeuvre of choice.

Then she smiles and explains, “I’m very choosy. I prefer to do roles that make me feel comfortable. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed doing all sorts of roles, starting from a girl next door to a sexy siren to a psycho.”

Is that why she is all set to essay Simi Garewal’s character in Karz? “Yes, it is different, isn’t it?” she asks.

Back to her sexy image. Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag was a dud at BO and her Mehbooba number also got mixed responses. Was she disappointed? “I really enjoyed dancing to Mehbooba Mehbooba on screen. The song also happens to be one of my favourites. Even if it was a small role for me, I just couldn’t refuse it,” she says.

But between Helen, Mallika and her - which Mehbooba number, according to her, stands out? “Helen ji of course! She will always be the best. Her dancing style in Mehbooba Mehbooba is unsurpassable. Urmila Matondkar is very excited to bag the role of an unfaithful lover Kamini, played by Simi in the original Karz. To be directed by Satish Kaushik, the remake will have Urmila in two get-ups – a younger one and an older one.

The movie will also have a special item song that will be picurised on Urmila in the first half.

Urmila Matondkar will re-enact Simi Garewal's role of Kamini in the remake of Subash Ghai's Karz. There were rumors recently that Sushmita Sen would play Garewal's role, but the producers clarified the same as just that.. baseless rumors!

The lovely Urmila Matondkar is not socialising too much these days. The reason for this is that she has injured her ankle and has been advised rest.

"I was trying out a form of exercise called spinning and I sprained my ankle badly," says the actress, adding, "Now I have to stay at home." But she's far from being depressed - nothing can keep the Matondkar babe down, it seems. "The best thing about this is that all my friends are making it a point to visit me and I'm having a great time at home. So something good has come of it after all."

Ram Gopal Varma has been frozen to death realizing that his secretive shots from the song ‘Mehbooba’ featuring Urmila have leaked on the World Wide Web. “I haven’t given out any pictures. In fact, I don’t intend to show the song in my promos. So it has to be images taken on a mobile camera during the shoot (at Karjat),” Varma said.

After Aishwarya Rai in the chart-busting "Kajra re" number, it is Urmila's turn to share sizzling screen space with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan for the "Mehbooba" song in the new "Sholay".

Director Ram Gopal Varma canned the song for his "Sholay" in Karjat recently. "It was like sharing an experience with two legends (Amitabh and Helen)," said Urmila.

"I've always been a huge fan of Helenji. I know all her dances by heart, 'Mehbooba' being my favourite. And of course, I'm a huge fan of Amitabh. Though he didn't dance with me, Abhishek did. To have done the legendary song as a homage to two living legends is quite something," Urmila told.

Says Urmila, "Everything that evening was a blur. I was rendered speechless by Ashaji's generosity. She not only spoke in glowing terms about me she also presented me this huge Saraswati idol. She seems to think I'm not only a good actress but also an able singer. I can't believe it! She has advised me to cut my own album."
