Sunil Shetty seems quite hassled and worried these days. The actor has been receiving abusive and threatening calls from a person by the name of Puran Chauhan. Apparently, Puran is a physically handicapped stuntman who was hired by Sunil's production house Popkorn Entertainment for enabling them to get permission to shoot their film Little Godfather on railway premises. However, when he failed to do so, the actor seems to have cancelled his contract after making his payments. Read the rest of this entry »

Actor-producer Suniel Shetty says he is not joining Raj Thackeray's party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and is just supporting his proposal to form an association for the welfare of cine artistes. "I'm happy being an actor. I can't talk about my colleagues. But politics isn't my cup of tea. I think the best example of secularism is our film industry and I'm proud of it. To me Amitabh Bachchan is god. At the same time, Raj Thackeray is a very good friend of mine with a rational mind. But I don't subscribe to his politics," Suniel told IANS. Actor-producer Suniel Shetty is keen to see Mumbai transformed into a super clean city - so clean that people can "eat their vada-pao off the road". And to turn his dream into reality, Suniel is making a feature film, "Mumbai Chakachak", about a squeaky clean Mumbai. He is also propping it up with a music video with a who's who of the city supporting the campaign. "Mumbaikars dream of a city so clean they can eat their vada-pao off the road instead of a plate. We filmmakers share that dream. It's a dream project for my company, Popcorn Entertainment, and one with which we hope to up the calibre of our company from entertainment to meaningful entertainment," Suniel told IANS. Suniel Shetty's proposed actioner "Loot" is now a much bigger project than it was a fortnight ago. He has just cut a lucrative deal with the Philippine government for the movie. This is his second such major tie-up with a foreign government on behalf of his company. Earlier, he had cut a similar multi-million-dollar deal with the government of Turkey for the Apoorva Lakhia-directed "Mission Istanbul". However, the deal for "Loot" cuts deeper."Of course, on the most obvious level we get to shoot in some of the most gorgeous virgin locales of the Philippines, just as we shot in Turkey. But the tie-up means a lot more. It's time we stopped looking at Bollywood as an Indian enterprise," Suniel told IANS. Read the rest of this entry »

After many unsuccessful attempts, the now husband-wife team of Abhishek and Aishwarya finally hit the bull's eye with this year's first hit, GURU. Even before that, their on-screen chemistry was there for all to see in the song that became a rage, 'Kajra re' from BUNTY AUR BABLI. Though there were indications of them being paired again in Karan Johar's Tarun Mansukhani project, Aishwarya opted out, and in walked Priyanka Chopra. Read the rest of this entry »

Despite the success of Chak De India, Shah Rukh Khan was overlooked by the Hockey Association for the post of brand ambassador. Suniel Shetty was confused and overwhelmed at the same time on the appointment of brand ambassador of hockey.
He says,”It was an awesome experience to be given the responsibility to revive the game. I may be a right choice. But after seeing Chak De I think Shah Rukh Khan is a much better choice for representing hockey for the country.” It is rather exciting to see the game being played on the field than in the theatres.

Bollywood star Suniel Shetty, known for his love of sports, has been signed up as the official brand ambassador for hockey in the country - a move expected to give the neglected game a much-needed boost. "It is true. I received a letter from the hockey federation. I suppose they relate me to fitness, wellness and sporty activities. And they hope to revive hockey as a national game," Suniel told a news channel. However, Suniel candidly admits his first love is cricket not hockey. Read the rest of this entry »

The latest from White Feather is that a music video is being shot by young Rahul Sood for the promotion of Sanjay Gupta's 10-story high bouquet of short films, "Dus Kahaniyan". Dino Morea, who stars in one of the stories "Sex On The Beach", directed by Apoorva Lakhia, says the music video is being done in the style of a Lenny Kravitz rock concert. "Suniel Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Minissha Lamba, Diya Mirza, Tarina Patel and I are in the video. The song is composed by rocker Gaurav. He has never done a film song before. So the whole atmosphere is that of an impromptu jig. I'm having loads of fun. One of my secret fantasies is to sing on stage. This video fulfils that dream." Read the rest of this entry »

Suniel Shetty usually has a quiet birthday and this time it will be even quieter because his friend and colleague Sanjay Dutt is in jail. "If Sanju gets his bail then there would be an incentive to celebrate. Otherwise, no point," Suniel told.
The actor turned 46 Saturday. "I don't celebrate my birthday. Just my usual quiet dinner with family and 8-10 close friends who have been with me from kindergarten. They're all from outside the entertainment industry. We meet every Saturday anyway. And my birthday is on Saturday. With Baba in jail this time there's definitely no celebration." Age wise Suniel might be getting older, but as far as fitness is concerned he says he feels 21.

Suniel Shetty is now all set to try his luck in the garment business again. He is tying up with the Creative Group, a leading fabric company. But Suniel is reluctant to talk about it. "It's premature right now. The plans are being worked out. I'm happy to join them. They are among the biggest garment manufacturers and exporters in the business. The garment industry was always part of my business plans. But I wanted to wait for the right opportunity." Read the rest of this entry »
