The now slimmer and more ravishing Sameera can be seen all over the satellite channels these days. The reason is obvious, her two upcoming projects, the Abbas-Mustan directed RACE and Ashwani Dheer's Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Tusshar Kapoor and Esha Deol starrer, ONE TWO THRE, are due to hit the silver screens within the next 10-days. Sameera is really looking forward to (hopefully!) a positive response from the audience towards both her films, in which she essays roles that are really different from what she has done earlier. Her comic dumb bimbette act in RACE (about which we told you couple of months back) will be an eye opener for her fans and critics alike. Read the rest of this entry »

There were some interesting incidents that happened on the sets of RACE which is getting ready for a February release. Apparently each of the three leading ladies from the film - Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy got into numerous debates with each other. To top it up, all the men (Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna) were party to this as well and to take it to one step further, they also assigned a time limit of 5 minutes for every individual to participate in this debate. Fire alarms in Yash Raj studios went off during the shooting of 1-2-3 Yesterday there was chaos at Yash Raj studios when the fire alarms went off on the set of 1-2-3. A fire sequence was being shot which resulted in a huge smoke cloud that set off the alarm, causing widespread panic. Smoking! Sameera Reddy who was on the shooting for the fire sequence, inhaled a lot of smoke. In fact, she inhaled so much smoke that she has now lost her voice. Read the rest of this entry »

Last year's blockbuster hit, DHOOM:2 was not only talked about for it's breathtaking action, but also for its lead artists like, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu. We had told you last month about Pyramid Saimira procuring the Kerala-Tamil Nadu distribution rights of OM SHANTI OM, at the highest ever price for a Hindi film. We had added that they had plans of releasing it with a record number of 60-70 prints. Well, that is how it went, and Pyramid Saimira's decision proved to be right, as they have already made a neat little profit. The Chennai weekend run of their movie has managed an astonishing 96 percent occupancy, and with many new regional films to contend with. Read the rest of this entry »

Buddhadev Dasgupta had announced the making of “Ami Yasim” with Sameera at the press meet for “Kaalpurush”. Thereby, in a recent press conference to promote her new Bengali flick Ami Yasim, Sameera said, “So I am hoping that he might give me another movie at the end this press conference.

Bipasha Basu was supposed to act in the Bengali film Kaalpurush and Sameera Reddy was to act in Shikhar. But ultimately Basu bagged Shikhar and Sameera did Kaalpurush.
In a similar case, there is a misunderstanding thriving between Mallika Sherawat and Sameera as Mallika is acting in Welcome instead of Reddy and Reddy is doing Race where she replaced Sherawat.

After receiving a lukewarm response from the Hindi audience, Sameera Reddy is slowly venturing into cinemas made in different languages, thus widening her horizon. Sameera has bagged major success in Bengali flick Kaalpurush, which went on to win the National Award.
Apart from that, Sameera will now be seen in another Bengali film titled Ami Yasin Arr Amar Madhubalae, produced by B.A.G. Films and Media.

Bollywood stars have often come to help the needy in their own little way. This time svelte Sameera came in support of Dreams Homes, a orphanage for girls in Mumbai. When the actress heard that the landlady of the house was evicting the children, she rushed to the spot.
Says Sam,”I have been trying to resolve the problem. I have been supporting this place for a long time and I can’t see the kids suffer like this for no fault of theirs. I am trying to figure out where to shift the children from here.”

Only a while ago, John and Bipasha looked like they were going to follow Abhiash’s suit, but that’s a distant dream now. And though John is no where in the picture, Bipasha is in no mood to forget the numerous women who were in the news for their linkups with John. Sultry Sameera Reddy is just one of them. The two are paired together in Abbas Mastan’s Race and reportedly couldn’t see eye to eye during the first schedule of the film in South Africa. Well, the unit is back and were supposed to be shooting for an item song for the promotions of the film, with all their leading ladies, which also includes Katrina Kaif. Read the rest of this entry »

Sultry Sameera Reddy is doing two mainstream films with Buddhadev Dasgupta and a short film on AIDS awareness with Mira Nair. Sameera, who was recognized as a serious actress with Buddhadev Dasgupta’s movie Kalpurush, talks about working with the director for the second time.
“Buddhada’s new project is called The Voyeurs. This film showcases the problems created by mobile phone cameras which people use to shoot just about anything. It deals with the effects on the lives of other people. The movie asks the question of what is right and what is wrong,” she said.

For the song Musafir in the film Saaki, Sameera had gone through artificial body tanning to get her look. Sameera denies, “No, I have never done that. Before Musafir I had done films like Maine Dil Tujhko Diya and Darna Mana Hai where the make up artist put so much make up so I looked fair that I felt horrible.
That is why, when I did Musafir, to prove that black is beautiful I put on a shade of dark make up for the song and it really worked!” Since when has Sameera started calling the shots?

Her last few films might have bombed badly at the box office, but Sameera Reddy is hardly perturbed. Putting aside expectations from any of her other forthcoming big releases like Race, she is now looking forward the most to the release of Mira Nair's short film on AIDS, where she plays a victim of the disease.
"The film is called Migration, and Irfan Khan, Shiney Ahuja and I play the main characters," says Sameera. "I have been a part of many big banner movies, but I have come to realise that such meaningful storylines matter more than anything else." The character in the film, she insists, is one of her most significant roles till date.
