Shashilal Nair had a tough time getting long-standing buddy Jackie Shroff to enact a steamy love scene for his "Lolita", in which the director swears he has "gone by the book". Nair, who has collaborated with Jackie on unusual projects like "Falak", "Angaar" and "Grahan", had to finally wave the contract paper in front of an inhibited Jackie to force him to comply and go on with the shooting. Sangeeth Sivan has made sure that in EK - THE POWER OF ONE, he casts as many people as possible from his last hit APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY. Apart from roping in Chunky Pandey in a cameo, he has also got Jackie Shroff to play an intense character in EK. While Chunky Pandey played a Nepali don, Jackie was shown as a broke yet stylish don in ASMM.
Incidentally this is not the first time that Jackie and Sangeeth have worked together. Years back the two had made SANDHYA. A horror flick, it never got released and is still lying in the cans. EK - THE POWER OF ONE is a remake of superhit Telugu film ATHADU. Starring Bobby Deol and Nana Patekar in the lead, the film stars Jackie in the same role which was enacted by Rahul Dev in the original.

When Vidhu Vinod Chopra went mainstream with PARINDA [1989], Jackie Shroff was the first actor to be taken on board.
Since then VVC has repeated him for his subsequent films like 1942-A LOVE STORY [1994] and MISSION KASHMIR [2000]. Though KAREEB [1998] did come in between, there was no role suitable for Jaggu dada in the film.
After MISSION KASHMIR, VVC concentrated on being a producer and came up with MUNNABHAI MBBS [2003], PARINEETA [2005] and LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI [2006], none of which has Jackie Shorff starring in them. But later when VVC wielded the megaphone once again after a hiatus, he didn't forget his good old buddy Jackie and penciled him in for a key role in EKLAVYA - THE ROYAL GUARD. Playing a villain again after MISSION KASHMIR, Jackie Shroff enacts the character of Jyotiwardhan, younger brother of Rana Jayawardhan [Boman Irani], in the film.

Why doesn’t the industry recognize men and women at the right time? Why does it forget the achievements of men and women who have conquered in the face of heavy odds? Why does it wait for a time when it is time to write their obituaries and pay tributes, hold “chauthas” and condolence meetings to pay their homage, dressed up in immaculate white but with various colours of feelings sprayed all over their soul and minds? I don’t know why these solemn, somber and strong feelings cross my mind on a peaceful Sunday morning when I am thinking of our dear “Jaggu Dada”, also known as Jackie Shroff, the man who was almost the written off as a “Dada” who was a “Na Na” as an actor has completed twenty-five years in this world where a career is finished on every Friday and with every flop… Jackie started his career with a bit role in Dev Anand’s “Swami Dada”. That role in which he had not a word to speak, was noticed by director Subhash Ghai who wanted to find an alternative to the rising Phenomenon of the star-sons who were ruling supreme and according to their own whims and fancies. Ghai had the courage to cast this unknown young man in his film, “Hero”. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits and Jackie Shroff, the boy who lived in a “Kholi” (room) in a chawl in Teen Batti in the hearts of Mumbai was accepted as a big star. And then there was just no stopping him. He was one of the most favourite hero’s loved both by the industry and the people, especially by women and children. The only class of people he could not win over were the critics with rocklike hearts living and working in stone built ivory towers. But he had the distinction of providing them when he won the National Award twice, once for ....... Click to continue

There should be a Nuremberg trial for crimes against humanity targeted at birdbrained Bollywood directors like Sachin Bajaj. Bajaj's Naksha is an eggregious offense against all notions of good taste. A bizaare tale involving a map and half-brothers Veer Malhotra (Sunny Deol) and Vicky Malhotra (Viveik Oberoi) pitted against a ruthless villain Bali Bhaiyya (Jakie Shroff), Naksha is completely without any artistic merit. Vicky, Veer and Bali are all after one of the greatest things in Hindu mythology - the great Mahabharat character Karna's armor and ear-rings (kavacha and kundala) that lies somewhere in the snow-clad Om mountain. After all, whoever gets hold of Karna's armor and ear-rings gets great physical power .....
