In her forthcoming Suparn Verma’s flick ‘Acid Factory’, Dia will be seen in a glam-chic avatar. Says Suparn, “The idea was to reinvent Dia and give her a never-before look. Her dresses, her mannerisms and the way she is going to appear in the film are extremely novel. New Delhi-based designer duo Nikhil-Shantanu are styling her.” Read the rest of this entry »

Bips is being replaced really often these days. First it was Prachi Desai, and now Dia Mirza. The Hyderabad beauty was chosen to act in Suparn Verma’s film-Acid Factory when Bips walked out of the movie due to problem with dates. The movie has Dia as lead and solo actress with 6 actors. The actress needed a make over though, for the role. Read the rest of this entry »

During his heydays, Mithun Chakraborty would have never imagined that some other dancer would ever be roped in to perform on an item number for a flick where he would be the lead protagonist. However, that has now happened with his upcoming film ZINDAGI TERE NAAM which has it's USP as his pairing with Ranjeeta. Read the rest of this entry »

Former beauty queen and Bollywood actress Diya Mirza may not exactly be a (late) Smita Patil or a Shabana Azmi, when it comes to acting, but is quite an able performer. Unfortunately, she did not get the kind of success in Bollywood that some of the other beauty pageant winners of her era achieved. Read the rest of this entry »

Recently while shooting an item number for her good friend Ashu Trikha’s film ‘Zindagi Tere Naam’ in Jaipur, Dia Mirza had a tough time as the temperature was as low as 2 degree Celsius. The song was being shot at Sisodia Gardens in Jaipur for almost four nights. While the remaining crew was dressed up in warm clothes, skimpily dressed Dia had to run for cover as soon as the shot got over. Read the rest of this entry »

Post 2007, Dia Mirza's career has been showing a steady escalation. HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD., SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA and CASH were her major movies of the year while she also had a song and dance appearance in HEYY BABYY and OM SHANTI OM. In addition to these assignments, she was also seen in one of the best short stories of DUS KAHANIYAAN - ZAAHIR. Now 2008 too has a lot in store for the pretty actress as she would be seen in at least 5 movies. Her first release would be KRAZZY 4 which is a biggie considering the fact that it comes from the production house of Rakesh Roshan. Another of her biggies would be ALIBAUG which is produced and directed by Sanjay Gupta. Read the rest of this entry »

We have been giving you exclusive inputs about Amitabh Bachchan's corporate project, featuring the megastar himself, Diya Mirza and now Sarika (instead of Dimple, as believed earlier). The project that was to be initially shot in the Valley of Gods, Kullu-Manali and later at the Himachal capital Shimla, is likely to see a role reversal, mainly due to the continuous snowing and inclement weather in Kullu and the neighbouring Lahaul-Spiti district. As per our Himachal based sources, Amitabh Bachchan and Diya Mirza are due to arrive in Shimla later this week. In fact, Shimla's historic Hotel Willow Banks (originally owned by Arthur James Cradook- 'Architect and Builder of Shimla')has already been spruced up to welcome the megastar. . An old heritage building near the hotel has been converted into a bakery and the necessary renovations were completed on Saturday itself. Why a bakery, one may ask? It is because Amitabh essays the role of a senior local resident who works at a bakery. As per reports, Diya Mirza plays atourist, who is on a vacation to the hill station, along with a group of friends and is to be a regular visitor at the bakery. Read the rest of this entry »

Dia Mirza has been lying low for quite some time. Apart from Dus Kahaniyan one hasn’t heard much about her these days. Question her about it and the actress says, "I do an average of four to five films a year. How much do you want me to do? I have Alibaug and Fruit and Nut to my credit. For me it is important to hold on to different films. After my films flopped in the beginning, I needed to do different films. Now that I have done different films and made a place for myself, I need to be the centre of attraction. I think I have said no to more films now than ever before. When I am old and grey, tottering with a stick, my grandchildren should say, ‘Wow, what films have you done!’ I will do films I want to be a part of." Read the rest of this entry »

To brace herself for the more realistic phase in her career, Dia Mirza has left for the US to sharpen her acting skills. “I’m off to New York to do a seven-day workshop in acting at the New York University. It’s very important for every actor to renew and refurbish one’s skills.”
She returns to play a pivotal character in Sanjay Gupta’s Alibaug. “A lot of the situations are from the director’s own life. That element of realism has crept into my life. Previously, Manisha Koirala had run off to the US to do a course in filmmaking.

Dia Mirza is finally emerging from the shadows. Her performance in Apoorva Lakhia’s Shoot Out At Lokhandwala, as the deglamourised, no-nonsense news reporter modelled on Mintty Tejpal, who covered the real encounter in Lokhandwala 20 years ago, has fetched her rave reviews.
It is Dia’s first film shorn of all make-up. “Shoot Out At Lokhandwala is the kind of cinema I believe in. People will not witness a glmourised Dia in stylishly shot Cash.”
