It's not often that actors who are wont to travel far and wide are given the opportunity to celebrate Diwali with their loved ones. But for the festival of lights this year, actor Akshay Kumar will make an exception. He'll fly down to Mumbai to be with family, and to make the occasion even more special, wife Twinkle is heard to have organized a Diwali bash for Akki's close friends.
About celebrations as a child, Akshay says the memories have always been happy ones. "My eyes lit up then, as they do even now, on hearing the word Diwali. For me, it meant firecrackers, treats and everything good. There are more smiles at this time of the year; Filmmakers flock to release their films around Diwali, and they smile the widest as the theatres go house-full by default." And what about son Aarav? "He is brought up like any other child. He looks forward to fire crackers and the usual stuff that excites children," says Papa Kumar. Last year the Khiladi Kumar celebrated Diwali in Australia. The man was shooting for Singh Is Kinng then. And the card games were substituted by a wild night at the casinos. However, this year it's going to be the more traditional Deepavali for Akshay, who considers himself lucky to be home on this great occasion.
