When Sanjay Chhel's MAAN GAYE MUGHALL-E-AZAM releases on 22nd August, the audience will be privileged to witness a conglomerate of highly talented acting jewels like Rahul Bose, Paresh Rawal, Kay Kay Menon, Pawan Malhotra and Zakir Hussain. All the mentioned stars have dabbled in theatre and are acclaimed figures on stage.
Most of the stars have worked in comedy flicks earlier but one name that might sound strange and out of place here is that of Zakir Hussain, the menacing villain from Ram Gopal Varma's, SARKAR. Zakir plays a much harassed and irritable theatre director, who wants to do social plays in order to bring about a change in the society. But is unable to do so as such plays do not get the audience. So in order to make money he follows the convenient and safe route and runs an old favourite, the love story of Salim and Anarkali. Thus the film gets its name, MAAN GAYE MUGHAL-E-AZAM.
A highly versatile actor, Zakir is very happy that the director Sanjay Chhel had faith in his acting abilities and dared to cast him in a role which is quite contrary to his screen image. But he is sure that he will make a mark in this black comedy too. He feels that the movie might prove to be a turning point in his career. In fact his next venture, KHALBALI HAI KHALBALI too is a comedy from which Zakir has high hopes.
Well, the more the merrier! Welcome to the comic club, Zakir!
